Why Aren’t Opticians Giving out PDs?
2 Sep
In this economy many people are looking for ways to cut costs; get the best bang for their buck. Many of us wear eyeglasses, and we all know that sometimes it can’t get expensive. Zennioptical.com offers eyeglasses for a very low, and reasonable price. You do need one thing to get them though. Zennioptival.com requires that you have your PD. PD standing for Pupillary Distance. Pupillary Distance is the distance between the pupils of the eyes, center to center, in millimeters. The website would need this from your Opticians to proper fit you with glasses for you. The catch here is that (some) Opticians are refusing to do a PD for people. From the buzz I have been hearing is that they do not want to do it because the person is not buying eye glasses from them. I think this is selfish and silly. If they really want some money, charge the process a low price. Why not $20? Buying eyeglasses online is a growing trend, and if an Optician decides to charge a low fee, they will make a lot of money based off how many people would then visit him/her.
I think this is a matter of people being money hungry. Not everyone makes a grand income every year, and people need to realize that. If people start ordering glasses online and it’s not a proper fit for them, that can injure their eyes. If Opticians allowed this, it can be avoided at all costs.
